Glastonbury Fair 1971 was held at the Summer Solstice, June 20 - 24. It was a fair in the medieval tradition, including the legends of the area, with music, dance, poetry, and opportunity for spontaneous entertainment.
The Spirit of 71 area was introduced within the Glade area in 2011 in recognition of this 40 year anniversary and headed by Andrew Kerr one of the founders of the first event on the site along with Arabella and of course Michael.
Now in its second year the G stage and Glade Lounge and nearby Arcadia carry the genes in their new guise. Dance, electronica, and a passion for celebrating the roots of the festival.
For the Spirit of 71 stage we will be using the same G Stage structure that was in the trees at the Glade but set up in Holts Field, next to the Glade Lounge with an all star line up ranging from festival roots and space rock to cutting edge electronica.
The Glade itself under the trees will become a welcome chill out, meeting point between the Spirit of 71 and Arcadia arenas and will be the centre of a new and exciting area of the festival for 2013.
