Glastonbury From Above on the BBC
The landmark new BBC TV series 'Britain From Above' - presented by Andrew Marr - will climax with stunning new footage of the 2008 Glastonbury Festival... from the ground and from the air.
The Lion TV team took to the skies in a vintage Tigermoth aeroplane on the Saturday morning of this year's Festival. The high definition aerial footage will be screened alongside interviews with Michael and Emily Eavis - filmed on top of the Park Tower - and dramatic new shots of the Glastonbury in full swing over the Festival weekend as part of the final programme in the series.
The major series begins on BBC 1 on Sunday August 10th at 9pm, with additional films being broadcast on BBC2 and BBC4, as well as on a dedicated 'Britain From Above' website.
Festival-goers hoping to catch a glimpse of their tent from the air should tune in to the third and final programme, to be broadcast on BBC1 at 9pm on Sunday August 24th. An accompanying book of the series, 'Britain From Above' will be published in September, while the whole series will be available on DVD from September 8.
Says series producer Lucy Van Beek: "The highlight for the whole production team was undoubtedly shooting at Glastonbury Festival. Glastonbury is a good metaphor for the country. It's extraordinary that it holds together but it does - just like Britain. "The opportunity to fly over the site in a Tigermoth and witness all that activity, noise and excitement was brilliant. "It seemed the perfect place to end the series."
Episode 3, 'Britain From Above: Untamed Britain' featuring the Glastonbury Festival will be broadcast on BBC 1 at 9pm on August 24.
