We’re very pleased to report that Glastonbury has been named International Music Festival of the Year at the 29th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards in LA. This is the twelfth time that the Festival has won this prestigious award.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have won the Pollstar Best International Festival Award again this year, “ said Michael Eavis (pictured above at the 2016 ceremony). “Over the last decade or more,  the support and recognition from Pollstar’s voting public has meant so much to us.”

2018 Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza confirmed

Michael Eavis has today announced that next year’s Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza will take place on Saturday 4 August, 2018.

Although the Festival itself will be taking its fallow year in 2018, the Extravaganza will return to the Abbey’s spectacular surroundings for the 22nd time. The bill is yet to be announced, but the event’s last five headliners – Brian Wilson, Van Morrison, Ray Davies, Robert Plant and Bryan Ferry – give an indication of the calibre of acts Eavis has attracted to the event in recent years.

Michael Eavis said: “When we had our last fallow year, in 2012, Charles Hazlewood took the date for his Orchestra in a Field. But we’ve had such a great run of Extravaganzas in recent years that we wanted to keep up the momentum, and we’re already in discussions with some fantastic performers. It’s shaping up to be another wonderful event for the town, its residents and its local businesses.”

Ticket prices have been held for the sixth year running, with the popular Extravaganza gift vouchers on sale from today, December 6. Click here to buy now.

Vouchers can also be bought from the Abbey shop – to be redeemed for adult or child tickets. Advance prices are adults £35 and £20 for a child aged six to 16. Any remaining tickets will be available on the gate, priced at £40 adult and £25 for a child. Accompanied children aged five and under do not require a ticket. Booking and postage fees apply. Terms and conditions apply.

Eavis and Corbyn celebrate Pilton social housing project

Last modified: October 26, 2017

Earlier today, Michael Eavis welcomed Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to Pilton to celebrate the beginning of the final stage of his landmark social housing project.

“These are houses for village people to live in and they will never be sold,” says Michael Eavis. “My dream was to have 50 houses available for the Festival’s 50th anniversary in 2020. Today we are one step nearer to making that dream a reality.”

The first building project started in 1990 as 10 houses known as ‘Oathills’, the original name of the field. Then, ten years later came the completion of ‘John Burn’s Cottages’, 12 houses funded by Hastoe Housing. The land and the stone were provided free of charge from Worthy Farm, with contributions for dressing the stone from the Workers Beer Company, who provide bars at the Festival. HRH Prince Charles opened John Burn’s Cottages and met the tenants in 2010.

Now we have completed another 13 houses, working with the Guinness Partnership and builders EG Carter, known as ‘Maggie’s Farm’. These were visited by David Beckham this year, who planted a walnut tree.

Plans are now well ahead to complete the whole scheme with a further 15 houses to make a total of 50, which will coincide with the Festival’s 50th anniversary year, 2020.

2017 Pilton Party with Bastille is a sell out!

Last modified: August 7, 2017

Follow the official Pilton Party Twitter account, @PiltonParty2017.

Glastonbury Festival’s annual ‘thank you’ fundraising gig for villagers, workers and local people – billed since the 1990s as the Pilton Party – returns to Worthy Farm on Friday 1st September. Topping the bill this year will be the incredible Bastille, who were last in Pilton to play a triumphant set on the Other Stage at Glastonbury 2016. Since then, they’ve seen their second album, Wild World, top the album chart and win Best Album at the 2017 NME Awards.

Also on the line-up is the fabulous Declan McKenna, who won our Emerging Talent Competition in 2015 and whose wonderful debut album, What Do You Think About The Car, has just been released by Columbia Records.

Two winners from the long-running Pilton Working Men’s Club ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition, UK:ID and Arcadia Roots.

Locals had the chance to buy tickets on Saturday 5th August when the Festival opened the doors of its Glastonbury town office in Northload Street at 11am. There was a second chance to buy tickets in person on Monday 7th August from the Festival’s office on Worthy Farm.

Following those in-person sales (which were only advertised locally), the 2017 Pilton Party is now completely Sold Out. Thanks to everyone who’s bought tickets – we’ll see you on Sept 1st!
