Last modified: April 19, 2017

MKCoach110_Fotor2_Sml

Our coach partners National Express will be running direct services to Worthy Farm from over 75 locations for the 2017 festival. Brand new for this year, coaches will be running from Bristol Airport, along with major pick up points across England, Scotland and Wales.

All National Express coaches drop off and pick up at the dedicated coach park on site, making the journey hassle free and helping to ease traffic congestion in the local area.

Coming by coach is already one of the greenest ways of heading to the festival, generating at least FIVE TIMES less CO2 emissions, compared to driving in a car alone to the festival. To add to this – National Express will also be adding double deckers to some of their routes, helping even more customers reduce their carbon footprint when travelling to Glastonbury.

Group travellers get the added benefit of a 25% discount on Glastonbury journeys with National Express – simply book 4 or more tickets and your discount is automatically applied when buying seven days in advance.

Block9 announce 10th birthday line-up

Last modified: April 19, 2017

Block9 have just announced their Glastonbury 2017 line-up, with a supercharged 10th anniversary special not to be missed in the Festival’s south east corner. A decade after the NYC Downlow first appeared, some of the biggest names in dance music join the ranks to put on an epic, unforgettable party.

The Genosys outdoor arena, 50 tonnes of concrete, steel and glass, continues to explore the birth of electronic music and its lasting legacy with Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson, Panorama Bar residents  Steffi & Virginia, UK heavyweight Blawan, and Hercules & Love Affair Soundsystem.

The NYC Downlow returns in 2017 to celebrate a triumphant decade of homocentric house, disco, funk & soul featuring the cream of the international gay underground. Enter the sinister Meatpackers’ warehouse to hear legendary New York duo Masters At Work, Chicago taste-maker Michael Serafini and Berlin’s Prosumer tear the house down. Live performances from Mykki Blanco, Mandel Turner and Jonny Woo.

The mighty London Underground showcases the best of the capital’s pirate radio and soundsystem culture. Fatman Sound bring tuff roots reggae on Sunday night while Peason Sound promises heavy UK garage vibes on Saturday. Long time collaborators Rinse FM team up on Friday night with Hodge, Loefah and Youngsta. Hold tight.

Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza to be headlined by Brian Wilson

Last modified: April 11, 2017

There will be “Good Vibrations” at this year’s Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza as Beach Boys Co-Founder Brian Wilson is to headline, Michael Eavis announced today.

Music Legend Brian Wilson will play The Beach Boys’ seminal album, Pet Sounds, in full, as part of the 50th anniversary tour of the record named the greatest album of all-time by publications including the Times, NME and Uncut.

Performing alongside a celebrated band which includes his former bandmates Al Jardine and Blondie Chapman, Wilson will also treat the Abbey crowd to greatest hits and rare cuts from their vast back catalogue.

Tickets for the 21st Extravaganza, which takes place at the Abbey on August 5, have already been selling fast despite the headliner not having been revealed until now. Tickets are on sale now, here.

Michael said: “To have a music icon such as Brian to headline the Extravaganza is just fabulous; he is bringing his world-famous Pet Sounds to play for us and I am sure it will be one of the best nights we’ve ever done at the Abbey.”

And Brian sent this message to fans: “I love performing Pet Sounds with my band and look forward to playing back in Glastonbury, as I had a ball the last time we played at the festival, this show at the Abbey will be a special night, I look forward to seeing you all there, Love and Mercy, Brian.”

Also playing at the Extravaganza will be the world-famous brass band, the Black Dyke Band. The traditional firework display will round off the night.

The 2016 Extravaganza, which was headlined by Van Morrison with Jamie Cullum and the Wells Cathedral School Big Band, sold out well in advance.

For the third year, limited camping has also been made available for Extravaganza ticket holders by Michael a short distance from the Abbey, with pitches starting at £20 for the weekend. Pre-erected tents are also available.

Advance tickets cost the same as last year with adults £35 and £20 for a child aged six to 16. On the gate prices will be £40 and £25 for a child. Accompanied children aged five and under do not require a ticket. Booking and postage fees apply. Terms and conditions apply.

To book Extravaganza tickets and camping, click here to visit the Abbey website.

Following the closure of the seven-day ticket balance payment window for those who paid a deposit for tickets in the Autumn, we’re pleased to announce that a limited number of tickets for which the balance has not been settled will go into our ticket resale, which will be split over two separate days.

As in October, we will be giving the first opportunity to book tickets to those who choose to travel to the Festival by coach. The resale for Ticket + Coach packages will take place at 6pm BST on Thursday, 20th April.

That will be followed by a resale of General Admission Tickets, at 9am BST on Sunday, 23rd April. General Admission Tickets cost £238 + £5 booking fee, with postage by Royal Mail Special Delivery charged at £7.75 per order (coach package e-Ticket delivery is £1.50 per order).

As before, tickets will be sold exclusively at glastonbury.seetickets.com.

Please note that all tickets purchased in the resale must be paid for in full at the point of booking (there is no deposit scheme offered for resale). These tickets will be refundable up until 5th May, and cancellation protection is available at the point of purchase (for more information please click here).

You will need to be registered in order to book tickets in the resale. If  you are not already registered, please register here. Registration will close at 5pm BST on Tuesday April 18th. If you are not already registered, we strongly recommend that you register online by Thursday April 13th to allow sufficient time to resubmit your registration if your photo is rejected. Please be aware that if you submit a registration after Thursday April 13th and the photo is subsequently rejected, you may not have time to resubmit the photo.

If you are already registered you do not need to re-register for the resale, but we would advise you to check your existing registration and edit any details which need updating by clicking here (again, this needs to be done by 5pm BST on 18th April, after which time you will not be able to re-register).

For full details of the packages available and for terms and conditions of purchase please refer to the Ticket Information Page.

As in previous years, the exact number of tickets in the resales will not be announced, however, it is likely to be a limited quantity – split between general admission tickets and coach packages.

2017 Emerging Talent Competition finalists announced – listen now!

Last modified: April 3, 2017

We’re very pleased to announce the eight acts that have made it through to the live final of Glastonbury Festival’s 2017 Emerging Talent Competition, which is supported by PRS for Music and the PRS Foundation.

The acts are: Flohio, Josh Barry, Lilith Ai, Lucas & King, Silences, Tyni, WOWH and Young Yizzy. You can listen to them on the player above.

The eventual winners will perform a set on one of the main stages at this year’s Festival and will also be awarded a £5,000 PRS Foundation Talent Development prize, to help take their songwriting and performing to the next level. Two runners-up will also each be awarded a £2,500 PRS Foundation Talent Development prize.

The eight acts were selected by Glastonbury judges from the longlist of 120 artists which was compiled by 40 of the UK’s best online music writers, who chose their selections from thousands of entries.

Said Emily Eavis: “Each year, we are blown away by the sheer amount of great music that’s being made by new, upcoming artists in the UK and Ireland. There really is so much talent out there, and it certainly wasn’t easy to narrow it down to just eight finalists. But we’ve ended up with a really strong list of acts and I can’t wait to see them all perform at the live final.”

This year’s invite-only final will take place on Saturday 22 April, 2017.

2017 Ticket Balance Payments FAQ

Last modified: March 24, 2017

81-Glastofest-AndrewAllcock-160625-1701

If you have paid a deposit for either a general admission ticket or a coach package for the 2017 Festival, your balance payment is due between 9am on Saturday 1st April and 11.59pm on Friday 7th April 2017. You can pay your balance here.

There will be a resale of any cancelled tickets later in April.

If you are planning to pay a balance between 1st – 7th April, please take a moment to read the following FAQs.

CAN I PAY MORE THAN ONE BALANCE IN THE SAME TRANSACTION?

Yes – you can pay the balance for up to 6 tickets in one transaction, providing you have all paid a deposit and they are all the same ticket type. By grouping your balance payments together you will only pay one postage and packing fee (£7.75 per order for general admission tickets, £1.50 for coach e-Tickets).  You will need to provide each ticket holder’s registration number and postcode in order to pay their balances.

You can only pay the balances together if they are for the same type of ticket, so you can pay the balance on up to 6 coach packages together, or up to 6 general admission tickets together, but you can’t pay the balance on a mix of general admission and coach packages in the same transaction.

I PAID FOR SEVERAL PEOPLE’S DEPOSITS IN OCTOBER, CAN WE ALL PAY OUR BALANCES INDIVIDUALLY?

Yes you can. Each person will just need to provide their registration number and postcode in order to pay their own balance.

pledgeheader

WHAT IS THE ‘LOVE THE FARM, LEAVE NO TRACE’ PLEDGE?

In booking a ticket and attending Glastonbury Festival, you accept the Festival’s terms and conditions of entry. It is important that you read and understand all of these terms and conditions, and we continue to need to highlight the Festival’s environmental policies which all ticket purchasers are required to subscribe to. Therefore when paying your balance you will be asked to sign our ‘Love the Farm, Leave no Trace’ pledge, agreeing that:

  • I will use the toilets provided and not pee on the land
  • I will use the recycling bins provided and not throw my rubbish on the ground
  • I will take all my belongings home with me again, including my tent and all camping equipment
  • I will bag up my rubbish in the bin bags provided by the campsite stewards and use the recycling pens provided in each campsite.

Please commit to this pledge and encourage others to stick to it too, to help ensure a sustainable Festival.

CAN I PAY MY BALANCE WITHOUT AGREEING TO THIS PLEDGE?

No. Everything covered in the pledge is already a condition of entry, which you agreed to when paying your ticket deposit. It is not possible to attend the Festival without agreeing to Love the Farm, Leave no Trace.

CAN I CHANGE MY DELIVERY OR EMAIL ADDRESS?

If you wish to change your delivery address you can edit your address online at seetickets.com/customerservice or update your delivery address on the balance payment page. Please note changes to your delivery address will not update the address associated with your registration.

If you wish to change your registered email address please contact See Tickets customer services on 0115 896 0073. When paying your balance you are given the option to provide a different email address to the one you registered with, but this won’t update your registered details.

WHAT’S THIS ABOUT ORDERING A WATER BOTTLE WHEN I PAY MY BALANCE?

As part of Glastonbury’s sustainability we continue to look at ways of reducing the waste that is generated on the Festival site. Our 100% food grade stainless steel water bottle which is etched with the Festival logo will once again be available to order when paying your ticket balance. The water bottles can be pre-ordered and picked up from any of the 12 WaterAid kiosks across site. You can fill your water bottle at any of the kiosks for free and at any of the water points.

A reusable water bottles saves money and reduces the amount of litter generated onsite.

All taps across the Festival site provide safe drinking water, and this year we are once again working together with WaterAid and the Raw Foundation to provide a reusable 532ml stainless steel water bottle featuring an etched design. Bottles will cost £10 each.

I’VE BOOKED A COACH PACKAGE, CAN I SWAP TO A GENERAL ADMISSION TICKET?

No – coach packages are non-transferable. If you have booked a deposit for a coach package, then you need to pay the balance for a coach package, it isn’t possible to transfer to a general admission ticket (or vice versa). If you are unable to travel on the coach package you have booked, you will need to cancel your coach package (including the Festival ticket).

ARE THERE ANY MORE TIPIS OR CAMPERVAN TICKETS AVAILABLE?

All campervan tickets and tipis are currently fully booked.  Any cancelled bookings will be returned to sale in the general ticket resale later in April via glastonbury.seetickets.com so it is worth keeping an eye on there for any returns.

IS THERE ANY MORE ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE AT WORTHY VIEW?

Worthy View is also currently fully booked. As above, any cancelled bookings will be automatically placed back on sale, via glastonbury.seetickets.com so it is worth keeping an eye on there if you are after something that is not currently available.

I’VE BOOKED A COACH PACKAGE, CAN I STILL BUY A CAR PARK / CAMPERVAN TICKET?

No – car park and campervan tickets are only available to general admission ticket holders. It is not possible to purchase a car park or campervan ticket when booking or paying the balance for a coach package.

WE’RE COMING IN A GROUP WITH A CAMPERVAN/CARAVAN, DOES EACH OF US NEED A CAMPERVAN TICKET?

No. You only need to book one campervan ticket per campervan/caravan, but everyone aged 13 or over in your group will of course need a Festival ticket. Please note large vehicles, which require a pitch in excess of 8m x 7m, require a large campervan ticket, for the White route site. For more information about campervan and caravans please check out the campervan information page.

SINCE I BOOKED MY DEPOSIT I’VE FOUND I CAN’T COME TO THE FESTIVAL, CAN I GET MY DEPOSIT BACK?

Yes. Any tickets for which the balance has not been paid will be refunded £30 (a £20 admin fee will be retained) automatically onto the card on which they were booked within 7 working days of the balance payment period ending. If you already know that you won’t be able to come to the Festival, and would like to get your £30 back before the automatic refund, then please call See Tickets on 0115 896 0073. Please note if your card details have changed since you placed your deposit you will need to contact See Tickets to arrange your refund.

If you are cancelling a coach package a total admin fee of £30 will be retained. You will be refunded your coach fare less a £10 cancellation fee, and your ticket deposit less the £20 cancellation fee.

MY FRIEND CAN NO LONGER COME TO THE FESTIVAL, CAN I TRANSFER THEIR TICKET TO SOMEONE ELSE?

No. Tickets (including deposits) are entirely non-transferable. If one of your party is no longer able to attend the Festival they can obtain a refund of £30 for their deposit (see above); however you cannot reserve that deposit for someone else. Cancelled tickets will be put back on general release in the ticket resales.

CAN I STILL BOOK A TICKET?

Quite possibly, yes – please don’t give up hope! There will be a resale of any cancelled tickets later in April. Please check back for more information after the balance payment period.

I’VE PAID MY BALANCE BUT HAVEN’T HAD A CONFIRMATION EMAIL – HOW CAN I CHECK EVERYTHING IS OKAY?

If you have not yet received confirmation of your balance payment you can retrieve your booking details at seetickets.com/customerservice.

I’VE SEEN TICKETS ADVERTISED ONLINE, ARE THESE LEGIT?

No! Please don’t be tempted to buy tickets from anywhere other than See Tickets.  Glastonbury tickets are only available through one agency – Seetickets.com – who support our unique Glastonbury registration system, which means we can make sure that all our tickets are sold at face value, to genuine Festival goers. (Some of the campsites local to the Festival are authorised to offer hospitality tickets as part of their accommodation packages. If you are in any doubt as to the legitimacy of a company, please contact the Festival.)

ETC 2017 Longlist announced – listen to the acts now!

Last modified: March 6, 2019

We’re very pleased to announce the 120 acts on the longlist for our EMERGING TALENT COMPETITION 2017, which is supported by PRS for Music and the PRS for Music Foundation. These acts were picked by our judging panel, made up of 40 of the UK’s best online music writers.

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the many thousands of acts who entered the free contest, and the judges for helping to narrow them down to just these 120 acts.

Each of the bloggers has chosen their favourite three acts. They’re listed below, and check out the SoundCloud playlist of all the acts above (apart from the acts who chose to enter a “private” track).

These acts will now be whittled down to a shortlist of just 8 acts who will compete at April’s live finals for a slot on one of the main stages at this year’s Festival. The winners of the competition will also be awarded a £5,000 PRS for Music Foundation Talent Development prize, to help take their songwriting and performing to the next level. Two runners-up will also each be awarded a £2,500 PRS for Music Foundation Talent Development prize.

3. Clara Bond
“Clara Bond has transitioned from straight up pop towards a more country-influenced sound. This is classic, perfectly-honed song writing. “

2. WOWH
“Love that this doesn’t really sound like everything else – there’s a very carefree essence to it, plus the chorus is so catchy and light.”
3. Tiny Folds

2. Dahlia Sleeps
“Creating eerily still yet pulsing music, Dahlia Sleeps are a synth pop 4-piece that push the pop boundaries into deeper and darker places.”
3. Crash Island
“Crash Island are a self confessed darkwave indie rock band, they are energetic, full of positive summer vibes and eager to get you dancing.”

Music Like Dirt
1. Denton Thrift
“There are obvious comparisons to The XX in Denton Thrift’s wonderfully sparse sound but the combination of Xylophone, lush harmonies and a guitar seemingly pilfered from a Whitesnake power ballad lifts them up above the many soundalikes.”
2. Declan Welsh & the Decadent West
“You’ll need a cloth to wipe the spittle from your face after listening to Declan Walsh’s three minute rage against the prevailing political tides. Punk rock at its finest angry agitating best.”
3. Della Lupa
“Arty theatricality abounds in English-Italian-Vietnamese singer songwriter Steph Brown’s Della Lupa ‘project’. At heart though ‘Closed Borders’ is simply good songwriting and it never harms to sound the spit of national treasure Kate Bush.”

Neon Filler
1. Nicholson Heal
“Bristol based singer songwriter Nicholson Heal excels either with just a guitar and his beautiful voice, or with a full band that includes a six piece brass section.”
2. Palm Honey
“This psychedelic pop quartet are full of fuzzed up fun and buzzed up ballsy rock and offer something for everyone with their self titled style of “experimental, alternative, noisy, psych-gaze pop”.”
3. Orchards
“This Brighton based act take geek chic to new levels as they blend maths rock with good old fashioned pop. Singer Lucy Evers adds some genuine soul, while Sam Rushton’s intricate guitar work is the glue that brings  their eclectic mix of styles together.”

1. Rusangano Family
So Brilliant. Amazing Lyric and Amazing Energy. Loved this. Perfect Glastonbury Band.
2. Peter Cat
Insanely good Melody and excellent songcraft. One of the most enjoyable tunes from the list. It was stuck in my head for hours. Great Live Video too. A Good Festival Band
3. Lilith Ai

Real Horrorshow Tunes
1. Rick Leigh
“I really enjoyed the mellow build to this song, with Rick’s understated vocals and meditative lyrics making a late appearance after a beautiful cacophony of instrumentation. Compelling stuff.”
2. Sad Girls Club
“Brighton band impressed with a British spin on Courtney Barnett-esque lyrics and sardonic humour, as well as undeniable lo-fi groove in their indie-folk-rock.”
3. Yassassin
“This indie-rock quintet have an irresistible track in “Social Politics”, that weaves together world-weary lyrics, angular guitars and a riotous attitude.”

Resonance FM
1. DREUW
“Captivating arrangements and very raw, soft-spoken delivery from a clearly very talented recording artist.”
2. Domiciles
“Spacey sounds to overload the senses by a confident and outspoken psychedelic ensemble.”
3. DRGM
“Sleek and polished female-fronted pop band with a raw delivery and a diverse set of influences.”

SBTV
1. Ella Shaw
“Fantastic. Voice has great tone and range. She is a decent pianist as well. Great subject matter too. Roll on Pilton.”
2. Electric Spank
“Tight group, funky vocals, care-free glasto vibes. Get the Tuborg’s out.”
3. Everly Pregnant Brothers
“Did milburn suddenly turn middle-aged? Quite a funny band from Sheffield.”

Sim Rollison
1. Petrie
“In a time of omnipresent alt-R&B, ‘To Swim’ is a track that demands your attention. A deft interplay of woozy synths and assured vocals, when the infectious bass driven chorus kicks in you know you’re listening to something special.”
2. SHEAFS
“Pure, infectious energy on show here from this Sheffield five-piece. Indie rock with a punk edge to it that is going to make you want to see them live at the earliest opportunity.”
3. Silences
“Haunting vocals are the unifying thread through this increasingly intricate weave of guitars and synths as this fine slice of folk-cum-indie builds to a brave and ultimately satisfying crescendo.”

The Fader
1. Slick Don
“Sharp and hard-hitting grime, as lyrical as it is primed for reloads & gunfingers. I love Slick Don’s Brum accent, too.”
2. sarasara
“Lilting, heavy broken beat reminds me of Gazelle Twin. Stark contrast with the whispery, fragile vocal. Really unnerving in the best way.”
3. Sterre Weldring
“Pretty, distinctive voice sliding around its vocal range, over delicate guitar work. Really intimate songwriting.”

The Know
1. Smooth Ends
“Colourful, confident and ready to tackle any main stage! They have the live show to back up the greatness of this track.”
2. Spectres
“This band has commanded the attention of the music press for a reason. Their noisy shoegazing is something unsettlingly brilliant.”
3. Starwheel
“Not many bands can pull of such a vintage psych sound with such conviction. They could easily explode like Temples and Tame Impala have.”

The House of Coxhead
1. Kalyan
“Stunning voice, cool band and really like the production. My favourite by quite a long way.”
2. Verschieden
“Cool band, bringing the vibe and the funk. Can imagine people really enjoying them live.”
3. Natalie 2V (Tuvey)
“Beautiful voice, love the track and sounds good live. Really impressive.”

The Line of Best Fit (Lauren Down)
1. Housewives
“Brutalist post-punk at its most ragged, “New Dance” is a muscular, angular, abrasive example of what South London’s Housewives can do. It’s menacing and poised, intricate and chaotic.”
2. Tokio
“Tokio Myers is a man of pure talent. An incredible composer and pianist, he could have got away with a simpler and safer approach to his music but then it would not be as thrilling or original.”
3. Stella Talpo
“Stella Talpo’s vocals are a smooth sip of whisky, a pair of arms wrapped around you when you’re feeling blue, that missed breath when your heart aches, the sound the walls of a 1920’s jazz club would make if they could talk.”

The Line of Best Fit (Paul Bridgwater)
1. Soham De
“Soham De really has something that makes him stand out. The vocal is confident, controlled and involving and he’s clearly an intelligent pop songwriter.”
2. Strange Boy
“Of all the submissions I listened to, Strange Boy stood out as the artist pushing the envelope more than any other. It’s music on its own terms, operating on a level that hits those parts of your brain a lot of music only sometimes scrapes. There’s so much going on and all of it is brilliant.”
3. Tinyman
“He’s a really impressive MC – his flow is incredible and the way the track bolts together a distinctly London sound with this jazzy NY rap arrangement is brilliant.”

The Quietus (Rory Gibb)
1. The Nightjar
“Some great, experimental-leaning nocturnal folk songs, sparse enough to allow the music to breathe, with carefully sculpted, interesting electronic production.”
2. Tidelines
“Subtle, slow-burning R&B/trip-hop hybrid with traces in the production of newer club music styles: cryptic, considered, and pleasantly synthetic in approach to its influences. The rest of the EP is just as good.”
3. Temples of Youth
“Thoughtful electronic pop songs done well — their more spacious tracks in particular are really nice, atmospheric things.”

Too Many Blogs
1. Tony Njoku
“A strange, slow-building song that comes to a head after the third minute with a fantastic payoff. ”
2. Toby Kaar
“The track that I heard on soundcloud actually made me want to check out the live video, and then also his other work. An electronic track that appears messy from the outside but is cleverly woven together.”
3. Owen Denvir
“This is one of those tracks you can easily imagine being everywhere. Used in an ad, in a soundtrack or on the trailer of a movie. Great voice, catchy chorus.”

When The Gramophone Rings
1. The New Coast
“The New Coast are one of those acts where within the first 20 seconds you know you’re onto something special. Anthemic without being overbearing, it’s huge.”
2. Paradisia
“Paradisia are a band that captivate through minimalism, which is a rare and glorious trait. You find yourself hanging onto every word and note in ‘Silent Lover’, each build and swoon effortlessly transfixing.”
3. Pixey
“Many artists try to bring experimental elements into play, however few successfully craft something actually exciting and worthwhile. This is where Pixey breaks the mould, bringing together huge pop hooks and melodies with lo fi production.”

When You Awake
1. Samana
A beautiful, atmospheric, dream-like song. Little Joy meets Nico meets Fairport Convention. The lead singer has an absolutely enchanting voice.
2. Lucas & King
Lovely voices and sweet tunes from this country-folk duo. A number of their songs include slide guitars, stomps and claps, which are hard to do well but they pull it off with ease and charm.
3. The Seamonsters
Good time indie girl rock! Quite loose around the edges but when it comes together, it’s something to watch out for.
