BBC 6 Music to broadcast from Worthy Farm on Friday

Last modified: May 3, 2011

This Friday (May 6) Lauren Laverne is heading down to Pilton to present her BBC Radio 6 Music show live from Worthy Farm.

Lauren will talk to Emily and Michael Eavis about this year’s Festival, while live music comes courtesy of Guillemots and our 2011 ETC winners Treetop Flyers. You’ll also be able to hear Ed from The Chemical Brothers’ ‘Memory Tapes’. Plus, Lauren will be announcing 6 Music’s 2011 coverage plans as the BBC’s “radio home” of the Festival.

The show runs from 10am to 1pm and you can listen live online by clicking here.

If you’ve bought a Glastonbury 2011 ticket and wish to come to the Festival by car, parking tickets are now available to buy online on See Tickets’ website. They cost £20 (plus £1.50 booking fee) and allow you access to the car parks from 9pm on Tuesday, June 21st until Monday, June 27th. NB: Although you can access the car park from Tuesday night, the Festival gates don’t open until 8am on Wednesday, June 22nd, and people will be expected to remain in their cars. Click here to buy a car park ticket.

Extra tickets for the campervan/caravan field have also just been made available, in both the East and West campervan fields. They cost £75 and are sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery at a cost of £4.50 per order. You can buy them from 0844 854 1356 or 01159 051 215.

We are, of course, encouraging as many people as possible to come to the Festival by public transport. If you come by train, bus or bike this year, you will be eligble for a Green Traveller lanyward, which entitles you to discounts on food and merchandise, plus exclusive access to solar showers and compost toilets.

With the 2011 Kidz Field line-up already boasting appearances from the Gruffalo and the Zingzillas, we’re very pleased to announce that another superstar of the children’s books/TV world has been added to the bill.

Rastamouse, the reggae-playing, crime-fighting mouse who’s become something of a phenomenon since hitting TV screens at the beginning of this year, will make his worldwide live debut at this year’s Festival, with a daily performance alongside his Easy Crew.

Resale tickets snapped up

Last modified: April 17, 2011

The refunded/cancelled tickets in this morning’s resale were snapped up within two hours. Apologies to those of you who didn’t manage to get one – demand far outstripped supply, so unfortunately some people had to miss out. As Emily Eavis wrote on her Twitter, “Very sorry to those who waited on phones and online and didn’t get a ticket. If we could fit everyone in, we would!”

If you did get a ticket, you should receive a confirmation email within three hours. You can also check your order on See Tickets’ site by clicking here.

Zingzillas and Gruffalo headline Kidz Field line-up

Last modified: April 14, 2011

We’ve scoured the nation and beyond for the best and most wonderful, fantastic, fabulous acts workshops and rides we can find to entertain and enthral our Kidz Field kidz and now there are limbs, snouts, hats and whiskers poking out as the acts desperately strain to burst out of their wrapper. Are you ready for the Big Zing!? Making their debut to the festival scene, The ZingZillas will be performing a range of songs at Glastonbury!  Head to the Kidz Field to see your favourite rock band, with a star performance from DJ Loose. Plus, proving that there is such thing, The Gruffalo will be coming to Glastonbury for the first time.

With all 12s and under getting in free to Glastonbury, The Kidz Field is Britain’s largest free children’s festival. We know that children are the best audience there is and that they know what they like and they always show their appreciation when we delight them. So, this year there are lot’s of great new acts and some familiar favourites. We’re happy to announce the full line-up and now that the cat out of the bag we can share our excitement and get ready for a fantastic festival. And there might even be a couple more surprises to come!

The cows are back in the fields

Last modified: April 13, 2011

After several months in their winter beds, the Worthy Farm cows have just been let back out into the fields. As you can probably tell from the video above, they’re very pleased.

Thanks to Mandy Briggs for the film, ETC2011 finalists My Tiger My Timing for the song and Jason Bryant for the photos.

(Mooooooo!)
