Festival granted new 10-year licence

12th March 2014

We’re delighted to report that Glastonbury Festival has been granted a new 10-year licence by Mendip District Council.

There was no opposition to the licence, which will run up to 2024 and will allow for more staff on site. The number of public tickets available will remain at its current 135,000.

Mendip District Council said the council "saw no reason not to grant the festival its new licence which will run up to 2024", with councillor Nigel Taylor commenting that the council had worked closely with Glastonbury’s organisers "to make this one of the best-run festivals in the world".

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said: "This is fantastic news. It’s so good to have a plan that will help everything at Worthy Farm move forward. I’d just like to say a huge thank you to all the people who have contributed so much to Glastonbury Festival over the last 44 years, I really do believe that the best is yet to come."
