First 2014 Theatre and Circus acts announced
1st May 2014
The Theatre and Circus areas of the Glastonbury Festival are pleased to announce some of the highlights on offer at T&C this year.
Award-winning circus stunts, drag acts, Aussie humour and frivolity collide on stage in Briefs: The Second Coming (pictured above). All male, all vaudeville, all trash. Don’t miss it.
From Paris we welcome Airnadette with their fabulous show We Will Dub You. A riotous mix of air guitar and hairbrush mics featuring sound bites from some of the most iconic films and songs of the last 40 years.
Fresh-faced, clean-cut and described by the Guardian as the “future of comedy”, Matt Richardson is making his debut this year. After touring his Hometown Hero show this spring, he’s certain to deliver a well-honed set.
Circus Kathmandu from Nepal feature hugely talented young artists, rescued from human trafficking and other vulnerable situations. Many of its members have been retrieved from Indian circuses where they were sold as young children. Now they are safe, skilled, successful and here to entertain you.
In their new show X&Y, Marcus du Sautoy and Victoria Gould use theatre, mathematics and humour to navigate the known and unknown reaches of the universe. Perhaps the most intellectual, funny and thought-provoking 60 minutes on site.
Successful writer, poet and former children’s laureate Michael Rosen promises poems, chat, songs and lots of audience interaction in his first appearance at the festival
The Cuban Brothers blend funk and soul music with break-dancing and riotous comedy. From humble beginnings in Edinburgh they are now a legendary international outfit and entertainment of choice for the likes of Elton John and Richard Branson.
Don’t miss the chance to see multi world record holder and sideshow legend Aerial Manx, the King Of Swords. The first and only person to perform acrobatics whilst sword swallowing, and yes, we are talking back flips. Be advised, this is not a trick, this is truly life or death in a single spin of the body.
