Lions rugby match to be screened live
8th June 2009
We’re pleased to announce that, due to popular demand, the Lions vs South Africa rugby match will be screened live at this year’s Festival. It will be shown on the double-sided 25-metre-square Village
Screen at William’s Green, at 2pm on Saturday 27th.
The Village Screen project is looking to engage and inspire Glastonbury’s audience with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and has been been awarded the London 2012 ‘Inspire’ mark for its contribution towards the UK Cultural Olympiad and its lasting legacy. The screen will be on from 10am to 3am each day, broadcasting a mixture of specially-commissioned short films and archive Festival footage, as well as hosting gaming sessions.
The project is being supported by the network of London 2012 Creative Programmers, the UK’s screen agencies, Arts Councils, the Legacy Trust, the BBC, Team South West and RELAYS.
