The Burning Lotus - A call for messages
20th June 2022
The Burning Lotus Glastonbury – a cathartic collective experience through art aimed at uniting us after a long period of isolation
Call for messages and tributes to be included in The Burn: posting deadline 23rdJune.
Burning Lotus is a 40ft sculpture situated in The Park at this year’s Glastonbury.
During the festival, visitors to the Lotus will be invited to reflect on the losses and challenges of lockdown, and contribute words and images to the sculpture representing whatever experiences or emotions they might want to put to rest.
At midnight on Sunday 26th June, Burning Lotus will be set aflame, creating a cathartic experience of reflection and release.
Artist Joe Rush’s vision is to extend the Lotus’s impact well beyond the beautiful fields of Glastonbury by collecting postal contributions from anyone who can’t be at the festival.
You may be mourning, angry, sad. You may have overcome challenges or faced your fears. You may be feeling stuck ,or you might be full of gratitude for the things you’re learnt. Share your thoughts, feelings, memories and hopes with the Burning Lotus in a moment of deep connection as we move forward together.
Please send your contributions as a letter to:

This is a collective experience but your privacy is of utmost importance. The event is expected to be included in BBC Live Glastonbury broadcast and we will attempt to live stream it via Instagram and Joe Rush facebook page
