The Strypes rock Pilton Working Men's Club

27th August 2013

Hotly tipped Irish r’n’b band the Strypes took time off from their first UK tour to play a surprise gig at the Pilton Working Men’s Club over the Bank Holiday weekend. The unannounced appearance was part of the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the revamp of the building, created by villagers after a launch donation by the Festival.

The venue is also the location for the Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition, won this year by Bridie Jackson and The Arbour. Support on the night was from Manners and local boy Rodney Allen, who also played at the Working Men’s launch gig ten years ago to the day, supporting Dennis LaCorriere of Dr Hook and the Medicine Company fame. The Strypes’ new single, ‘What A Shame’ is out now.
