West Holts stage and line-up announced!
7th April 2010
We’re very pleased to announce a major new stage at this year’s Festival. The West Holts stage will replace the Jazz World stage (and occupy the same location). The stage will be headlined by Mos Def, George Clinton with Parliament / Funkadelic (pictured) and Rodrigo y Gabriela.
"We’re going back to the real roots of Worthy Farm and its history with the name change for the stage," says Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis. "West Holts was a ‘halt’ originally; one of the two places where we had to open the level crossing gates across the old railway line to get the cattle through for milking. It was a fair walk up to the farm, just as it is now, and those cows took some driving!"
West Holts will feature the best groove-based music from around the world, as living legends share the bill with cutting-edge newcomers. Asked to sum up the sound of Glastonbury’s newest stage the answer was: "Global future roots music."
