The Left Field’s 2017 line-up is revealed!

Last modified: May 9, 2017

After the result of the EU referendum arrived on Friday morning of the 2016 Festival, Billy Bragg’s Left Field was quickly converted into a triage station for those shocked by the ramifications of Brexit.

Billy set the tone, turning his headline spot that evening into a reaffirmation of the Festival’s eclectic spirit – a defiant end to a day that may well go down as being the most divisive in our country’s recent history.

When we gather again in June, you can be sure that the Left Field will once more become a rallying place for those who need to recharge their activism. Here is their amazing line-up of music and debates for 2017…

The Glade announces 2017 line-up for its 5 stages!

Last modified: May 5, 2017

The Glade area is back at the heart of Glastonbury Festival again this year, with some top artists playing across its five different areas during the course of the long weekend.

Renowned DJs Sasha & John Digweed will be doing an exclusive back-to-back set on the Glade Stage on Saturday night, a real treat for music fans as this is only one of a handful of UK shows this year. On Thursday night, The Orb take over the Glade Stage for a rendition of their seminal debut album Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld, plus assorted other Orb favourites, with lynchpins Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann joined by various Orb affiliates like Youth, Gaudi and Steve Hillage for a cosmic spectacular. This all with the sonic experience of the Funktion One Experimental Soundfield.

Goldie has a new album out in June, The Journey Man, his magnum opus. To celebrate, he’ll be dropping tracks from the LP, Metalheadz label cuts and other drum & bass sizzlers to nice up the dance on the Friday.

And Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones will be bringing the disco-tech vibes at newly-located area Lovebullets, a tent that will also be playing host to extravagant Spanish party-starters Elrow on a couple of nights, as well as other quality underground DJs such as Jackmaster.

And these are only the tip of the iceberg! Check out the Glade line-up posters below, and head to their Area pages for lots more info.

Corinne Bailey Rae added to Abbey Extravaganza line-up

Last modified: May 2, 2017

cbr953Corinne Bailey Rae is to make a sensational return to the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza, as the support act for this year’s event on Saturday, August 5.

The Grammy Award-winning singer, who first appeared at the Extravaganza in 2007, has been described as the “Bewitching queen of British soul”. Bailey Rae’s most recent album. The Heart Speaks in Whispers, was released last year to worldwide acclaim.

She said: “I am so thrilled to be able to support Brian Wilson at Glastonbury Abbey. The venue is a dream, I played there a few years ago with Van Morrison. I’ve always wanted to see Brian Wilson and it will be amazing to hear the whole of ‘Pet Sounds’ performed live.”

She will be joining Beach Boys Co-Founder Brian Wilson who will be playing The Beach Boys’ seminal album, Pet Sounds in full at the event on August 5.

Performing alongside a celebrated band which includes his former bandmates Al Jardine and Blondie Chapman, Wilson will also treat the Abbey crowd to greatest hits and rare cuts from their vast back catalogue.

Michael Eavis said: “Corinne first performed at the Abbey just a year after she released her solo debut album and as soon as I first heard her music, I knew she was going somewhere. She will be competing with some of the best musicians in the world on the night, and I have no doubt she will hold her own. The line-up this year is so good for our 21st birthday and I’m really looking forward to the show.”

Also playing at the Extravaganza will be the world-famous brass band, the Black Dyke Band. The traditional firework display will round off the night.

The 2016 Extravaganza, which was headlined by Van Morrison with Jamie Cullum and the Wells Cathedral School Big Band, sold out well in advance.

For the third year, limited camping has also been made available for Extravaganza ticket holders by Michael a short distance from the abbey, with pitches starting at £20 for the weekend. Pre-erected tents are also available.

Advance tickets cost the same as last year with adults £35 and £20 for a child aged six to 16. On the gate prices will be £40 and £25 for a child. Accompanied children aged five and under do not require a ticket. Booking and postage fees apply. Terms and conditions apply.

Shangri-La 2017: Re-cycle – Re-use – Re-sist

Last modified: June 16, 2017

SHANGRI-LA 2017: ENVIRON-MENTAL

THE SH-AFTERLIFE IS NO MORE.
No Heaven. No Hell.
Only the waste from last year’s Festival remains..
..All the things you left behind.

Giant Towers of Trash now dominate the Shangri-La skyline. Structures have formed from the scrap, dwellings made of detritus, art from the embers.

A GAS TOWER looms over the site – harnessing the creative energy around it. A symbol of a bygone industrial era, it has reformed here, at the epicentre of the Digital Revolution. 360 degrees of awe-inspiring audio visual action

From the ashes of Hell rises the TRUTH STAGE, where the sounds of the revolution resonate all night long.

The container walls of the CLASH throb in a cacophony of chaos, as the biggest names in underground music collide.

Shangri-La International Television Centre SHITV – triples its transmission by opening all day long for debates and discourse in DIY culture, documentary making and Activism. By night, it broadcasts the best in UK comedy and live art.

The truth will take over your TV.

Shelter is sought inside towers of textiles, pillars of plastic and columns of consumerism. The rubbish is a refuge. Every space becomes a place to party or ponder, be it a tube train, a bus, a skip or a bin. Keep it real, Keep it tidy.

RE-CYCLE – RE-USE – RE-SIST

Shangri-La 2017 – Catering for all your off-world needs.

Kidzfield’s amazing 2017 line-up is revealed!

Last modified: April 30, 2017

Kidzfield is the family community at the heart of Glastonbury Festival. In 2017, we’re celebrating 23 years of MAGIC! The crew have been building the dream, bringing the wonder and creating the explosion of joy that is THE KIDZFIELD for 23 years. As always, all children aged 12 or under are admitted free to Glastonbury Festival 2017, and all activities within the Kidzfield will be without charge.

This year’s Big Top line-up includes the return of world-famous magician Dynamo and the LEGEND that is Basil Brush. Growing CBeebies superstar Mr Bloom and the Kidzfield favourites Andy, Alex and Katy. The celebrated theatrical production of Julia Donaldson’s Room on The Broom will bring joy to The Big Top. Factor in Correo Hazzard, Professor Panic, John Rowe and Milkshake, and you can see that we’ve pulled out all the stops. 2017 BRING IT ON!

All activities, shows and workshops in our field are FREE! Adults must be accompanied by a child at all times! As our motto says “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood or enable someone else’s”.

We believe in quality entertainment for kidz, we don’t endorse products, sell tie-ins or put on empty shows with bright colours and no nutritional value. We don’t do flyers or adverts or stalls or “pester power”.

Here’s the 2017 line-up poster. Head to kidzfield.com for more!

2017 Ticket Resale FAQ

Last modified: April 23, 2017

UPDATE: The resale tickets have now all been sold. Thanks to everyone who bought one, and sorry to everyone who missed out.

As previously announced, the resale of cancelled/refunded tickets will take place on Thur, 20th April (coach + ticket packages) and Sun, 23rd April (standard tickets). Here are the answers to some of the most Frequently Asked Questions about the resale.

WHAT IS THE TICKET RESALE?

Following our balance payment window, we will be selling a limited number tickets for which the balance was not settled. These will consist of general admission tickets and coach + ticket packages.

WHEN IS THE RESALE?

The resale of returned coach packages will take place at 6pm (BST) on Thursday 20th April.

The resale of returned general admission tickets will take place at 9am (BST) on Sunday 23rd April.

WHERE CAN I BUY A TICKET?

The resale will only be available at glastonbury.seetickets.com

HOW MUCH DO TICKETS COST?

Tickets cost £238 + £5 booking per person. Secure delivery of general admission tickets is charged at £7.75 postage per order. (Coach package e-Ticket delivery is £1.50 per order.) A list of coach prices can be found here (you’ll need to add the price of the Festival ticket too). UK Tickets can now be purchased with a UK debit card or Visa or Mastercard credit cards. International Tickets can only be bought by Visa Credit Card or Mastercard Credit Card.

HOW MANY TICKETS CAN I BUY IN THE RESALE?

In the general admission resale on 23rd April you may purchase up to 4 tickets per transaction – but remember that you can only book one ticket per registration. So if you plan to book for a group of four friends, you will need all their registration numbers and registered postcodes, too – get them ready now.

The coach package sale on 20th April will be limited to 2 tickets per transaction, to reflect the limited number of seats available per coach. Again, you will need the registration number for each ticket you are booking.

HOW MANY TICKETS WILL BE IN THE RESALE?

As in previous years, the exact number of tickets in the resale will not be announced. But it is a limited quantity.

Please note, See is running more than 300 coaches to the Festival, and the coach package tickets are spread across these. As it’s likely that people will be attempting to buy these very limited packages at the same time, it may be that someone else manages to complete the purchase before you do. A purchase is only confirmed when payment has been successfully processed.

DO I NEED TO PAY THE FULL BALANCE IN THE RESALE, OR CAN I JUST PAY A DEPOSIT?

The deposit scheme for 2017 is now closed. Tickets bought in the resales must be paid for in full at the time of booking.

DO WE NEED TO BE REGISTERED FOR THE RESALE?

Yes. Everyone for whom you are booking must be registered.

If you are already registered you can use your existing registration number and do not re-register. We advise you check your details online prior to registration closing, in case you need to provide any new details.

Registration closed at 5pm BST on April 18th, and will not reopen until after the resale.

WHICH TOWNS AND CITIES ARE COVERED BY THE COACH PACKAGES?

The coach packages, provided by Seetickets, will be from the towns listed here. Please note the prices indicated are for the coach travel only – you will need to add the cost of the Festival ticket to this to create the package price.

NB: Coach travel to the Festival is also available from National Express.

IF I BOOK A COACH PACKAGE DO I HAVE TO TRAVEL ON THE COACH?

Yes. For coach packages you will only be sent your coach tickets in advance – your Festival entry tickets will be handed out on the coach.

Travel on your chosen coach is mandatory. Please do not book a coach package unless you are certain you will be able to travel on the coach you have selected.

WHAT IF THE COACH PACKAGE I WANT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE?

We would strongly advise you only book a coach package which it is feasible for you to travel on, as bookings cannot be transferred, and your Festival tickets will be reliant on you travelling on the correct coach.

CAN I BOOK COACH PACKAGES FROM DIFFERENT DESTINATIONS AT THE SAME TIME?

No, you can only book coach packages from one destination in one transaction.

CAN I BOOK A COACH SEAT FOR MY CHILD OR DEAF AND DISABLED PA TO TRAVEL WITH ME IF THEY DON’T HAVE A FESTIVAL TICKET?

All passengers including children aged 12 and under, and Personal Assistants allocated tickets under the Disabled PA scheme, must purchase a valid coach ticket in order to travel. If you are travelling with children aged 12 or under, who do not require an entry ticket for the festival, or a PA allocated tickets by the Disabled Access Coordinator you will need to contact coachtravel@seetickets.com upon completing your booking in order to enquire about additional coach seats (NB: standard fares apply). Please note Coach Seats are now severely limited, and See cannot guarantee there will be any availability on your coach. See Tickets also cannot guarantee all coaches will have wheelchair access and storage facilities. If you require wheelchair access or wheelchair storage you must contact coachtravel@seetickets.com no later than 30 days prior to departure to ensure the appropriate facilities can be provided.

CAN I STILL BOOK A CAMPERVAN, TIPI OR CAR PARK TICKET?

Car park tickets will be available during the general admission resale on Sunday 23rd April.

Any campervan and tipi cancellations will go back on sale immediately after the general admission resale at glastonbury.seetickets.com. Naturally you won’t be able to book car parking or campervan parking if you’re booking a coach package, though.

CAN I STILL BUY A WATER BOTTLE IN THE RESALES?

Yes – a limited number of reuseable water bottles will be available to purchase from the Water Aid and Raw Foundation water points on site at the Festival, however pre-orders via See Tickets are now closed.  All taps across the Festival site provide safe drinking water, and this year we are once again working together with WaterAid and the Raw Foundation to produce a reusable 532ml stainless steel water bottle.
