“Don’t Pee” logo contest winner announced!

Last modified: June 1, 2016

We’re very pleased to announce that Joshua McDowall is the winner of our “Don’t Pee” logo competition, in which we asked you to come up with a design to discourage people from peeing on the land at Worthy Farm (something which really could threaten the future of the Festival).

Thank you so much to the thousands of you who submitted an entry. We were completely blown away by the standard and picking a winner certainly wasn’t easy, but Joshua’s clever, colourful design was a very popular choice. And because there were so many great designs, we will be displaying as we can on the big screens during the festival.

Joshua wins two tickets to Glastonbury Festival 2016, plus accommodation for two in our Worthy View pre-erected campsite. Here is his winning design:

Anarchist spirit and satirical wit: Unfairground’s line-up announced!

Last modified: June 4, 2016

Situated in the southeast corner, Unfairground is an art field for subversive and radical art and music where the act of repurposing both ideas and salvaged material turns the unethical cycle of consumerism and wastefulness into a virtuous one, with the theme of highlighting the unfairness in society and allowing for a uniquely twisted, immersive and interactive visitor experience where participation makes everyone a winner.

Infused with equal measures of anarchist spirit and satirical wit, Unfairground is at the cutting edge of festival culture. Best known for their large scale installations, interactive diversions within a full on hedonistic rave, Unfairground has embraced an entirely original modus operandi excavating an underground culture that cannot be experienced in such a way anywhere else.

Explore their venue pages for the 2016 line-up in Bez’s Flying Bus, Jagz’ Acid Lounge and the Salon Carousel.  In the meantime please do get lost on their map of attractions below, which will preview on Wednesday 22nd June, before the musical delights over the entire weekend.

We have ignition – Arcadia unveils its 2016 line-up!

Last modified: May 25, 2016

2016 sees Arcadia return in a vivid flash of sensory mayhem. The Metamorphosis show charts the fate of abductees plucked from the crowd as they are morphed into evolved new beings. With jellyfish swooping from the skies, creatures crawling overhead, musical lightning firing from performers in the midst of the crowd and ground breaking technological innovations coming to life, all roads lead to the Spider’s hilltop lair to explore new dimensions, new heights of interactivity and new depths of immersion.

2016 will also see the launch of a new experimental performance by Arcadia as The Mechanical Orchestra is born from the heart of the beast. Riding frequencies from across the musical spectrum and firing them through the particle accelerator, no-one knows quite what to expect and the only clue has been the Worthy cows mooing a renegade chant as they stumbled across a top secret rehearsal.

This year also sees a viewing platform installed at Arcadia for the disabled, while Arcadia will be working to encourage a respectful and positive campsite culture and offering a free T-shirt to anyone who collects three full bags of recycling to help leave no trace.

This is Arcadia – Glastonbury 2016. We have ignition.

The Glade announces 2016 line-up for its four stages!

Last modified: May 20, 2016

Spaceport, Spike, Glade Lounge and Glade Main Stage are back in force from Thursday morning right through to doors on Monday proudly presenting their best Glastonbury line-up yet.

Half in the trees and half out, along the old railway line between Other Stage and West Holts and on the way to Arcadia and The Park, The Glade area is right at the heart of the Festival. Day or night it’s a place to stop off and meet with friends when trekking across the site. True to its roots in the Avalon field and Frome One World Festivals the Glade crew puts on a massively varied program of live bands, world music, experimental and later on – the best of pure electronica and dance. Glade hosted the spirit of ’71 stage in 2011 and has a strong connection to the origins of the Festival.

Check out the line-up posters below – and get more info at The Glade’s Area page, Facebook and Twitter

Shangri-La announces its Glastonbury 2016 line-up!

Last modified: May 18, 2016

Shangri-La is the meta-narrative that strives to illuminate progressive culture and other-worldly entertainment.

Interactive installations and wrap around venues, ground breaking live art and performance, epic-scale subversive artworks and multifarious music programming unify to inspire and engulf its audiences.

Shangri-La holds a mirror up to the masses, challenging people in politics and play. Creating conversations, force-feeding the senses, expanding minds and opening hearts. There are No Spectators.

The fantasy field in the furthest corner of the festival has a deep history in outsider art and underground culture. This spirit continues to manifest in original and new ways to inspire the next generation of cultural revolutionaries and amplify the collective conscience.

Glastonbury gave over £2 million to good causes in 2015

Last modified: May 14, 2016

We’re pleased to report that in 2015, Glastonbury Festival was, once again, able to give over £2 million to our supported causes.

Over the past three years we have been able to make core donations to our main three supported causes – Oxfam, Greenpeace, WaterAid – of £3.75 million; with total donations of over £6 million to worthy causes, both local and international, since the Festival’s last fallow year.

As well as our main three beneficiaries, the Festival has continued to support hundreds of worthy causes, schools and sports groups. There are too many to list, but a selection of them is listed below.

In 2015 we were also humbled by the generous support of everyone who took part in our fundraising auction and raffle in aid of Oxfam’s Refugee Appeal, which generated over £105,000 directly to Oxfam, in addition to the Festival’s donations.

Thank you to everyone who contributed by coming to the Festival; fundraising in the Oxfam appeal; and to all the incredible volunteers whose support and time makes these donations possible.
