Peeing on the ground at Glastonbury causes toxic pollution of the water table. The ground water runs into the central Whitelake River and down the valley for miles around. Wildlife and fish are affected if 135,000 revellers pee everywhere.
The Environment Agency tests the water regularly, and has the power to close down the site if too many people have urinated and polluted the site.
There are thousands of toilets on site, and we urge you to use them. Environmental health students check the toilets twice a day and cleaners and other staff are on hand, 24/7, to help keep them functional.

We’re pleased to announce that NHS Blood and Transplant will be attending Glastonbury this year for the first time. As our appointed ‘Health Campaign of the Year’ we’re supporting their major drive to recruit 200,000 new blood donors in 2015 to help keep the nation’s blood stocks at a safe level for the future.
Visit them in the Green Futures field where you will be invited to sign up to be a blood donor and have a bit of fun being a headliner on a specially constructed ‘Drop Stage’. No one will be asked to give blood on the day, though!
Emily Eavis says: “Giving blood is such an important thing to do and saves people’s lives, so we’re really thrilled to have NHS Blood and Transplant at the Festival this year. Around 1 in 4 people who are at the Festival in 2015 may need blood at some point in their lives but fewer new volunteers are coming forward to give blood. It would be fantastic if people took a few minutes to visit the NHS Blood and Transplant stand in the Green Future field and signed up to be a donor.”

We’re very pleased to announce that Florence + The Machine will play the Friday night Pyramid headline slot, which Foo Fighters were forced to withdraw from yesterday.
Says Emily Eavis: “Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence. Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!”
Full revised Pyramid Stage set timings for Friday will be announced soon.
Foo Fighters have just released the following statement:
“Due to injuries sustained in Dave Grohl’s fall from the stage during Foo Fighters’ June 12 show at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden, doctors have required the cancellation of the remainder of the band’s dates in the UK and Europe.”
Sadly, this means that the band will not be able to make their scheduled Pyramid Stage headline appearance on Friday, 26th June.
We wish Dave Grohl all the best for a full and speedy recovery.
A new Friday night headliner will be announced soon.

Following the success of their Dolly Mob dance in 2014, our wonderful Theatre & Circus folks are back with another flashmob dance for this year’s Festival.
To celebrate Lionel Richie’s Pyramid Stage performance, they’ve created the Do It Like Lionel dance. And, this year, there’s an organised get together for everyone who’s learnt it: at 4pm on Thursday 25th in Glebeland.
