Important information for Glastonbury 2017 ticket holders

Last modified: June 20, 2017

Hello! Glastonbury 2017 is almost upon us and things are looking amazing here on the sun-soaked Worthy Farm. We’re all incredibly excited.

If you have a ticket, we wanted to update you with some extra information about entrance to this year’s Festival, in light of the recent tragic events in Manchester and London.

As always, we have put in place all necessary measures to maximise public safety, working closely with the authorities. But Festival goers can also play their part in keeping Glastonbury safe and secure, so we’d very much appreciate it if you’d read and digest this message.

PLEASE PACK LIGHT

First up, we encourage you to pack as light as you can. For security reasons, all ticket holders will be subject to extra searches of their vehicles, their bags and their person at this year’s Festival.

This will make entrance slower than in previous years. Please be patient if there are queues, and please cooperate with any security requests and all searches.

Also, bring plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated on your journey and in the entrance queues. And please wear suncream and a hat if the sun is shining.

We do appreciate that you’re going to be staying on the farm for several days, but the less you bring, the quicker you’ll get through the gates. As a general rule, we would ask you to only bring as much as you can carry yourself. It really will make things quicker.

There will be separate search lanes for those with large luggage and trolleys, and we anticipate that these lanes will be significantly slower. So, please think: do you really need that camping chair? Can you manage without that extra food and drink? Remember, you can buy pretty much anything you need here on site.

We would also ask you to put luggage tags on all of your bags and belongings with your name and mobile number, so that we can identify them as yours.

Also, please do not wrap your bags / kit in the thick plastic wrap you sometimes see at airports. Your bags will need to be accessible for searches.

If you’re driving and you really do need to bring more than you can carry, then we would advise you to make separate trips to your vehicle, by exiting and re-entering (just make sure you hold on to your ticket and pass out to do this).

There will be plenty of staff and police around, so if you have any queries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to them.

PLANNING YOUR JOURNEY

As in previous years, the car parks will open at 9pm on the Tuesday night (June 20th) before gates open. Festival gates will then open at 8am on Wednesday morning (June 21st). There will, however, be no entertainment or facilities (other than toilets) in the car parks and Festival goers will be expected to remain in their cars until the Festival gates open.

In the past few years, the vast majority of Festival goers have chosen to arrive on the Wednesday, so we anticipate that security queues into the event will be at their longest on that day (June 21st).

If you would prefer quicker access to the site, then we would suggest arriving on Thursday (June 22nd) or Friday (June 23rd), when queues are likely to be considerably smaller.

Help create the biggest human Peace sign at Glastonbury

Last modified: June 12, 2017

The Green Fields are inviting you to come and join them at the Stone Circle in the Kings Meadow at 12noon on Thursday 22nd June, to help send message of peace to the world by creating the biggest human Peace sign ever (the record to date is 5,814 people). They’d like you to stand together and feel the love, light and joy of being united amongst the free thinkers, to show we are in this together and we all have a voice.

We spoke to Beth Llewellyn, the organiser of the Peace Garden in the Green Fields, who had the idea for the human Peace sign:

“I’ve been involved in creating the Peace Garden in the Green Fields for many years, and I’d been thinking about how there are so many more people in this world who want peace than there are with anger in their hearts. Peace starts within ourselves, and Glastonbury Festival really is built with the power of love from the whole crew. So when I was working on a new part of the Peace Garden and I saw a drawing of the peace sign in the soil, I thought, ‘Why don’t we get together the fields, and make this sign around the stone circle with people whose intent is for peace and not to be threatened by the few?’ We’re just doing it for love. I’m really looking forward to it.”
