Statement re water provision at Glastonbury 2019

Last modified: June 29, 2019

There is not a water shortage at this year’s Glastonbury. Our supply is running as normal. As always in hot weather, demand for water has increased, so we have put in place the usual restrictions on staff / guest showers and the limited number of public showers.

We have more than 850 taps on site, all of which provide free drinking water. These taps all have a ready supply of water.

All bars are also offering free tap water. And although we no longer sell water in single use bottles, all of our food traders are selling both water and soft drink in cans. There is also not a shortage of this canned water, which is available for those who wish to purchase it.

Water is also being given out from our Info points and we have roving teams providing water from backpacks.

So far, the on-site ambulance control have had just 27 heat-related calls for assistance, covering the 200,000+ people on site.

There may be queues for taps at some of the busier places, so we ask everyone to be patient and to look for taps in quieter areas of the site.

Thank you.

Late night at Glastonbury – more than just the SE Corner!

Last modified: June 25, 2019

When the big Glastonbury stages finish each night, the Festival offers a vast array of late-night entertainment options. Those include the legendary areas in the site’s South East corner – Shangri-La, Block9, The Common and Unfairground – but you may not know how many other amazing after-hours options are available to you. So here’s some info to help you party into the wee small hours without necessarily having to join the big crowds.

When’s a good time to head to Arcadia’s Pangea?

Arcadia’s Pangea stays vibrant until 3am (2.30am Sunday) but head there for sunset to catch their iconic Bug do its thing and kick-off their heavyweight party line-up.

When is the best time to visit the South East Corner?

The peak time to visit the SE Corner is on Thursday night and directly after the headliners have finished their sets on the big stages, from 11.30pm onwards on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you’d rather avoid the crowds and the queues, then head there before 10pm (they’re open all day) or get there after 4am.

What if I do visit the South East Corner at peak times?

Be patient – as you may have to queue for a bit – and follow the instructions of the stewards and the LED info screens. They are there for your safety and to provide information, and you’ll certainly have a smoother visit if you pay attention to them.

Where else can I go for late-night entertainment?

Probably more places than you realise. Here is a selection of areas/venues where you’ll find fantastic entertainment long after the main music stages have closed (most of these run until at least 3am).

Silver Hayes (Wow, Pussy Parlure, Gully Blues, Heds Party, Sonic, No Average Groove, BBC Introducing)
The Glade (Glade, Glade Lounge, Spaceport, The Spike)
Theatre & Circus Fields (Astrolabe, Summer House, Cabaret, Mavericks, Sensation Seekers)
The Green Fields (Greenpeace, Small World, Mandala, Toad Hall, The Flix)
Cineramageddon
The Park (Stonebridge Bar, Rabbit Hole, Bimble Inn, HMS Sweet Charity)
William’s Green
Glasto Latino
The Beat Hotel
Babylon Uprising
Pilton Palais
Avalon Cafe

Use the property lock-ups & Challenge 21 wristbands

Last modified: June 25, 2019

Don’t forget that your essential valuables can be left at the Property Lock-ups which will be dotted around the Festival site again this year. The locations are marked on the Festival map by a ‘keyhole’ logo. You can leave your belongings in safety – however large or small – and for whatever period of time you choose.

The Property Lock-ups are open 24 hours a day, and are free of charge to use. Soap and toilet rolls are also distributed free of charge from the lockups.

The lock-ups will open on Wednesday morning and close at 12 noon on the Monday – so if you leave anything in the lock-ups make sure that you pick up your belongings before then. (Anything left behind after this time will have to be claimed from Lost Property and may not be available until after 4pm.)

Challenge 21 wristbands

The lock-ups will also be issuing ‘Challenge 21’ wristbands. The Festival operates a ‘Challenge 21’ policy for alcohol sales. If you look under 21, you will not be served alcohol unless you can prove you are over 18 – by presenting ID – or by wearing a ‘Challenge 21’ wristband. These will be available from the lock-ups, on presentation of a valid form of photo ID. The following are acceptable forms of ID:

– UK Driving Licence
– Valid Passport

You can then leave your ID safely in the property lockup.

Artist signings at West Holts

Last modified: June 25, 2019

The West Holts signing tent is back for 2019, with many of the stage’s artists due to appear for a signing session after their performance. We’ve got some great signings already confirmed including Roy Ayers, Kamasi Washington and Ezra Collective. CDs and vinyl from the West Holts artists will also be available to purchase.

Check out the full signings programme below:
