Glasto Latino

Welcome to Glasto Latino, Glastonbury’s home for the spice and fire of Latin music, dance and culture. Daytimes the tent offers dance classes in Salsa, Samba and Reggaeton, and at night you can show off your steps to world-class bands and our famous late-night Latino parties.

Also not to be missed are the daily carnivals, join in as our dancers process around the West-Holts field!

In 2024 we were blessed with some amazing acts, who packed the tent with dancing bodies every night

Indira Román & Aji Pa’ Ti
On the Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Cuban singer-songwriter Indira Román, alongside her band Aji Pa’ Ti, brought their unique tropical sound creating an explosive and irresistible experience.

Haila Y Su Orquesta – Friday
Friday night we were graced with one of the most important champions of Cuban music in the 21st century. With over 30 years of professional experience, Grammy-award winning Haila has performed worldwide, and has released 10 solo albums. Her music is featured on many film soundtracks, and she’s collaborated with both national and international artists, including Celia Cruz, and Omara Portuondo of the Buena Vista Social Club.

Eliane Correa y la Evolución Orchestra – Saturday
Eliane Correa is a young multi-heritage Latina pianist, MD and composer based between London and Havana since 2009.

La Evolución is the only UK-based Cuban orchestra which is both female-led and female-fronted, and since its beginnings in 2017 it has regularly sold out the legendary Ronnie Scott’s and Pizza Express Jazz Clubs. With precise but powerful arrangements and an all-star line-up, the orchestra delivers a high-energy modern Timba (“Cuban salsa”) sound that is both authentic and unique.

Timba Británica ft Mayito Rivera – Sunday
London based 15-piece Afrocuban Salsa orchestra, led by Tristan Butler, presented a tribute to one of Cuba’s most well known and successful bands of all time, Juan Formell y Los Van Van.

Joining the band direct from Havana was Los Van Van’s former lead singer, Grammy award winning Mayito Rivera. Mayito – “The Poet of the Rumba” – is on the absolute top level of singers worldwide, a giant of Cuban music, renowned for the power and atmosphere that he brings with him everywhere he goes, moving audiences as well as keeping them moving.
He gave us some of Los Van Van’s classic hits, including ‘Somos Cubanos’, ‘Timba Tumba Timba’ and ‘Que Sorpresa’.

The daily dance class programme – one-hour classes, completely suitable for total beginners – this year included salsa from our very own resident party animal, “La Tempesta” Nigel May – also inviting you to get down and dirty with reggaetón;

Teaching salsa were Eglis “Pilo” Cerguero from Havana, Cuba, and his partner Ilaria, who have been getting Bristol’s feet shifting for a decade; and nationally renowned Nicolai V – his smooth and suave teaching style turns people into dancers without them even noticing!

This year for the first time Glasto Latino also introduced Samba classes, with Brazilian top teacher Ale Jansen, bringing the spirit of carnival to get the house ready to PARTY!

And for a fiesta? Our Carnival dancers processed around the West Holts field every day, picking up followers as they went, ending with a big dancing, drumming, cavorting crowd ready for the bands.

There’s nothing like it anywhere in the UK, come and pay us a visit!
